What does "Human-Grade" mean?
“Human-Grade” means every ingredient meets the same safety and quality standards as food made for people. Combined with fresh preparation (not heavily processed kibble), it preserves nutrients, improves digestion, boosts energy, and supports overall wellbeing — naturally.
Is your food raw or is it cooked?
Our pet food is 100% gently cooked to preserve maximum nutrients.
Are there any allergens in your food?
Our meals may contain common allergens such as chicken, beef, or fish. Each product lists its full ingredients, so you can choose safely based on your pet’s needs.
How do freeze-dried meals compare nutritionally to fresh meals?
Freeze-dried meals retain nearly all of the nutrients of fresh meals while offering longer shelf life and easy storage. Simply rehydrate with water before serving.
Do your recipes meet AAFCO standards?
Yes! At K9 Kitchen, all of our meals are AAFCO-compliant for adult dog maintenance and are also formulated in accordance with NRC (National Research Council) nutrient recommendations. The NRC provides detailed nutrient guidelines based on scientific research to help ensure pets get all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients they need. While AAFCO sets minimum standards for commercial pet foods, formulating meals according to NRC recommendations adds an extra level of nutritional completeness and precision, giving your pet a diet that supports long-term health and wellness; this means each recipe is complete and balanced, providing all the essential nutrients your adult dog needs to stay healthy, happy, and thriving.
How long is the shelf life for fresh vs freeze-dried food?
Fresh meals last up to 7 days in the fridge, once thawed from frozen. Freeze-dried meals can last up to 12 months when stored in a cool, dry place.
How do I transition my pet from their current food to K9 Kitchen?
When you switch your dog to fresh meals, their digestive system may need a little time to adjust to new ingredients, higher moisture, and different nutrients. This can sometimes lead to softer stools or more frequent bathroom trips for a short time. To help your dog transition smoothly, we recommend gradually mixing in K9 Kitchen meals over 5–7 days until they’re fully switched. This gentle approach keeps their tummy happy while they get used to their new, delicious food.
How sustainable or eco-friendly is your packaging?
We use recyclable and compostable materials whenever possible and strive to minimize our environmental impact.
Why do I need to rehydrate freeze-dried food?
Freeze-drying removes almost all the water from the food to preserve nutrients, flavor, and shelf life. Rehydrating restores moisture, making it easier for your pet to chew and digest while ensuring they get the full nutritional benefits of the meal. Simply add the recommended amount of water, let it sit for a few minutes, and it’s ready to serve!
Can I pause or cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes! You have full control over your subscription. You can pause, skip, or cancel at any time directly through your account or by contacting our customer support team. There are no penalties, and changes take effect immediately for your next scheduled shipment.
What is the return policy?
Our goal is for every customer to be totally satisfied with their purchase. If this isn’t the case, we will refund you 100%.
